Zoom Recording Analytics

Zoom Recording Analytics

How to retrieve the Recording Analytics of a Meeting Recording

Zoom cloud recording analytics allow hosts and admins to track viewership, including who watched a recording, for how long, and when it was downloaded. These analytics show engagement data for the last 30 days and require users to authenticate (sign in) for detailed, individual viewer tracking.

Key Recording Analytics Features

  • Viewership Summary: Provides a total count of views and downloads by date.

  • Viewer Details ("By View" tab): Lists specific participants who viewed the recording, including their names, email addresses, and the duration they watched.

  • Download Tracker: Counts how many times the recording was downloaded.

  • Participant Reports: Beyond recordings, you can generate reports to see who joined a live meeting, when they joined/left, and their total duration.

How to Access Recording Analytics

1. Visit Southern Cross University - Zoom portal and sign in with your Southern Cross University network account:

2. On the Zoom portal, click Recordings and Transcripts on the left panel. From the resulting list, enter the Meeting ID or Topic and choose the time range and click Search to bring up a list of past meetings. Select the appropriate meeting from the list and click the topic of the desired cloud recording:

Important Tips for Accurate Tracking

  • Requires Authentication: To see who watched a recording (names/emails), enable "require users to authenticate before viewing cloud recordings" in your Zoom recording settings.

  • Recording Types: These analytics apply to Zoom Cloud Recordings, not local recordings stored on your computer.

  • Webinars/Events: For Zoom Events and Webinars, detailed engagement reports (polls, chat participation) are available for both live and recorded sessions

Require Authenticated users to join

Zoom Login Required for Attendee Details and Analytics

The Zoom reporting functionality requires attendees to log into Zoom with their SCU credentials in order for their details to be logged automatically in the reports. If they log in as a guest, or using their personal Zoom accounts, the attendance report may not contain all relevant details.

Schedule meetings with "Require authentication to join" option on, and all participants will need to log in to Zoom with their Southern Cross University network account and password: Logging Into Zoom - SCU Authenticated

Participants' full names and email addresses will then be displayed in the list of meeting participants.
